Bad?

Yes, I am bad... At updating my blog on a regular basis! I know, I sound like a broken record! One of my New Year's resolutions was to be better about updating my blog... And in the tradition of breaking resolutions I have been awful at it so far!

So happy be-lated New Year everyone! Ryan and me spent New Year's in Disneyland... With 22,000 other people! It was totally insane, but I am glad we did it, it was definitely a memory I will cherish... My first New Year's living in California!

I also got some super awesome new HOT PINK Minnie Mouse ears covered in sequins!

This is a terrible picture, I was looking at a "Hidden Mickey" on the ceiling when Ryan snapped the picture lol So the downside of going to Disneyland with 22,000 people is all the kids and their germs :( Ryan and me got wicked cases of strep and the flu... it was a pretty brutal way to spend the first few weeks of our New Years. But we recovered in time for a pretty epic boys night at our house...

I am not quite sure what is going on here, but they thought it was pretty funny... Ok more than funny, they had me in stitches until about 3 am!

So on to some more recent stuff... We went to Griffith's park last weekend to enjoy the sunny weather and check out the observatory... It was absolutely gorgeous, I just wish it was clear enough to get a good view of the city...

Way too much smog (ewwww...) to really see it, but we did get a pretty awesome view of the Hollywood sign, and this really creepy bust of James dean!

We also went into the observatory to check out the massive telescope... Very cool!

After we explored around the observatory for a while we headed over to the other side of the park where the abandoned zoo was.

That's Johnny taking a picture of me while I was crawling around one of the old lion cages! Ryan got in on the antics as well by climbing into an old primate cage...

This place was pretty awesome, we plan on going back and exploring more now that we know there's an old abandoned zoo in the middle of the park... So expect more pictures of those antics soon! So I guess that's it for now, I will try to keep my resolution err... I guess I should say resurrect my resolution and post more soon!

It's Been Awhile!

Ok, so I know I said I would be better about posting, and I really did have good intentions, life just got in the way! I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween, I know we did! My sister and her family came out to visit this week to see the sights, it was so nice having them here! We took them to Disneyland, and showed them the sights in Hollywood and Olvera Street, including one of my favorite spots, Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where you get great views of Paramount Studios, the Hollywood Sign and the Griffith Park Observatory.

Rachelle and Austin outside the Haunted Mansion

The newlyweds waiting in line for Space Mountain (The Ghost Galaxy edition!)

Me and Austin on Mr Toad's Wild Ride!

This trip was Boyd's first trip to California and Disneyland, it was Austin's first trip to Disneyland as well!

Ryan and Boyd hamming it up!

Yes, Death wears Mickey ears!

The whole time Austin was here he was hoping for a celebrity sighting, and as the days wore on we were worried he wouldn't get one... Until... Miss Taylor Swift herself decided to shut down Hollywood Boulevard for an impromptu concert (for her NBC Thanksgiving Special, you'll be seein' us on there), we couldn't have asked for a better star sighting than that!

Talk about bein' in the right place at the right time!

All in all I think we had a pretty fun time, we were very sad they had to leave :(

Later that night we got into our scariest garb, and traveled down to Hollywood for the annual Dia de los Muertos celebration at Hollywood Forever, talk about a fun time! If you ever find yourself in Los Angeles when this is going on you should go!

Ryan, me, Gus and Cesar Partying at the cemetery!

One of the many alters there...

Every kid's worst nightmare!

Ryan and me outside the Cathedral Mausoleum where Valentino is entombed.

The Golden Girls Altar... Seriously, that's Blanche, Sophia and Dorothy!

I took soooo many pictures while were there, I wish I could post them all, but this post has way too many pictures as it is! I hope you enjoyed, and yes, I will try to post more in the future... I have a lot of catching up to do!

The End of Star Tours

Star Tours may be cheesy, but it is by far one of my favorite rides at Disneyland. I am saddened to announce that as of July 2010, Star Tours will be no more :( A moment of silence please for this nostalgic piece of our childhoods.

Thanks for the memories!

30!? Ok, it wasn't as bad as I thought!

So it's been a while since the last time I blogged... I am trying to be better about updating! I am happy to report that living in the bubble is still working for me, although now that I have banned pop culture related news I have become obsessed with the LA Times Homicide Blog! What better way to get to know your new area than checking out where people are being murdered!? Ryan thinks it's making me neurotic... But it's good info to have! So far I have learned that if you are a white woman between the ages of 25 and 38 you are more likely to be abducted and tortured... The odds increase if you are any of the above and pregnant... *Blank Stare* Ok, maybe Ryan is right, it may be making me a little neurotic lol

On to more light hearted topics... I just turned 30 on the 7th, I thought for sure I would want to spend the day wallowing in bed with a bottle of scotch, but that's not exactly how things turned out! The night before "Black Wednesday" (That's what I was calling my birthday at the time!), Ryan took me to dinner and surprised me with... Wait for it... An annual pass to Disneyland! And not just any annual pass, the premium park hopper pass, I even get free parking! I really did luck out with him, because his thought was, you can't possibly be depressed about turning 30 if you're in the "Happiest Place on Earth!" And he was right, as I stood among the masses I did find it very hard to dwell on the fact that my 20's were officially over, and I ended up having more fun than I could handle! Did you know that if it's your birthday, and you're in Disneyland they pin a giant button to you that says "Happy Birthday" and it has your name on it... Literally, every cast member in the park stops and says happy birthday to you, and if you want that seat behind the steering wheel on Indiana Jones you get it! Hell, I even got a free bag of fresh tortillas at the Mission Tortilla Factory! I highly recommend that everyone should spend at least one birthday there! One downside, neither of us paid any attention to the fact that it was spring break... I am very serious when I say there were apocalyptic sized crowds of wailing children running around! But hey, when you live 40 minutes from the front gates of this expensive kingdom it's not really something you think about! Bottom line, it ended up being one of the best birthdays I have celebrated yet! And it didn't end there! The following day we went to Mike and Priscila's, where Priscila made me the most amazing home cooked birthday dinner, and topped it off with the most fattening cookie pie I have ever laid eyes on, I literally fell into a sugar induced coma 5 minutes after eating half a slice! Friday, I got to have a date night with my baby, sushi at Midori, frozen yogurt at the Groovy Spoon, and then home to kick back and watch Spartacus! Yeah, we're dorks like that! ;) Saturday we decided to venture down to Palm Desert to visit Ryan's parents... On the way there we of course had to make a stop at Disneyland! When we finally got to the desert I was greeted with my new favorite BBQ'd chicken thanks to Ryan's mom, and of course another uber fattening dessert of cheesecake! (Don't judge, you only turn 30 once, I would have eaten cake every day if I could!) Sunday the birthday madness continued with another trip to... Bet ya can't guess... DISNEYLAND! Except this time we dragged our good friends Ben and Greggo with us :) Ryan and me ended up staying after they left to head back to the desert, and we literally shut the park down, and I finally got to ride It's a Small World! I was saddened to find out that in recent years they have made the ride more politically correct, but the dork in me was still really excited to finally see it in any form!

So that's it on the birthday madness, I returned home to Utah for the last time on tuesday... Now the packing madness has begun, we just finalized our moving company and set a date, so at the end of this month, I will be an official resident of La La land! I am sure through this process there will be plenty of randomness to share, so until then, enjoy the pictures! ;)
